BMW will present its newest 3 Series model at the Geneva auto show in March of 2005, and an American introduction is set to follow in New York this April. Two inline six-cylinder engines will be obtainable in the U.S., including a 3.0-liter capable of 255 horsepower. Both engines can be chummed to either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic. Other new features include a DVD-based navigation system, the iDrive control system, double-pivot front suspension, five-link rear suspension, BMW's Active Steering, Dynamic Stability Control, Brake Standby and a brake drying feature. BMW is also offering the Comfort Access remote ignition button as an option. In addition, the proportions of the car have been increased, with the overall length gaining 2 inches, the width over 3 inches, while the wheelbase has been increased by nearly an inch and a half. The 3 Series is set to go on sale in the U.S. in the summer of 2005.
